Drive through the scenic countryside toward Aphrodisias, one of the most important archaeological sites of the ancient world, named after Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. Aphrodisias was founded near a rich marble quarry that was heavily exploited during the Hellenistic and Roman periods.
The city became renowned across the Roman Empire for its exquisite marble sculptures and was a major center of art and culture.
